Why your run doesn't need an audience

Running used to be a private thing. You went out, you came back, and the only record was how you felt. Somewhere along the way it became something to post. A feed to feed. A streak to defend. An audience to answer to.

Dagg is a quiet argument with all of that.

The run was never a performance

A run is a practice, not a performance. You do it for the same reason you might sit still in the morning, or walk without a destination. It clears something. The moment you turn it into content, you are running for other people, and the run stops being yours.

What you give up to the feed

Kudos feel good for a second. Leaderboards make a quiet morning into a competition you did not ask for. Streak counters turn rest into guilt. None of it makes you a better runner. It makes you a more anxious one.

Plenty of people have left the big social running apps for exactly this reason. Not because they stopped running, but because the app started watching.

Private by default

Dagg has no feed, no followers, and no public profile. Your runs stay on your phone. There is nothing to share unless you decide to, and there is no one waiting for you to. The route you ran this morning is yours alone.

Metrics that look inward

Numbers can still help. Your pace, your distance, the climb you covered, the shape your route made. Dagg shows you these so you can understand your own running, not so you can rank against a stranger. The comparison that matters is you, today, against you, last time.

The best run is often the one nobody sees

The early one, before the world wakes. The slow one you needed. The one in the rain that you would never have posted. These are the runs that keep you running. They do not need an audience. They need you to show up, and then get out of your own way.

Run quiet

Dagg is a small app for runners who want less. It tracks your run, draws its shape, lets you race your own ghost, and speaks only when it helps. Then it gets out of the way.
